My Daily Plate App Reviews

Unhappy with options

No flexibility with foods and food group. I.E. Beans cannot be claimed as protein. Little choices.

A little disappointed

I was hoping this app would have the information needed on what should amounts be consumed daily. Also there isnt much personalization options. I cant put in my own foods which I would imagine throws off the accuracy of this app. Hopeful for changes soon... As I actually paid for this app and it isnt even close to what the free ones offer!

Almost there.

I think they should add a recipe section and if you eat something not on there. Also I saw a dietitian who recommended this to me and she said corn, potatoes, and some other things under the veg section is a starch/grain. Maybe adding a section for oils and stuff like ketchup, I dont eat much of it but I eat it.

Lacking

For a calorie counting app that charges a fee, the lack of food options to enter is surprising and frustrating.

Like with some changes

There are a lot of good aspects to this app. I wish there was a way to add stuff that isnt on their lists. For example the fats - chocolate, nuts, etc or just an amount that isnt there.

Love it!

After reading about the new recommended daily allowances on the US FDA website I was going to track these manually, but then found this app! It does all the tracking for me easily and I love how you see your daily progress visually in the plate. Super easy to use and motivating! *the only thing I would ask to improve-I couldnt figure out how to add fats/oils so it would be counted in my calories for the day.

Simple to use, amazing support

This app does what it promises, tracking servings of food groups. Its easy to use and helps you make healthier choices. After using it all day I tried to add black eyed peas for my protein for dinner, and found no legumes there! I wrote to support explaining that because I was vegetarian I relied on beans for protein. The next morning when I woke up they had replied that the USDA counts legumes as either protein or vegetables and that beans had only been included in the vegetable category. This had been amended and the database now included beans in both categories. Ive never received such amazing support from an app developer, and I like the simplicity of the app itself which also makes it a useful tool to teach my children about good nutrition. One shortcoming is that if youre using it as a diet program to loose weight it doesnt track sugars and fats so the calorie count might not reflect your actual calorie count if youre cooking with olive oil or consuming sugary drinks, for example. The best use of this app is to help you focus on having a healthier, more varied diet than as a calorie counter. Its an excellent teaching tool, also. I think it would be very useful in a classroom for kids to get an idea of what a healthy diet would look like.

Like it but

Though I understand the easy clicking, you need to be able to adjust some servings manually....or have many more options to choose from.

So few foods.

Wish this synced with myfitnesspal.

So simple my kids use it, too.

The visual of the plate is great! I wish they had a section for fats.

Excellent Visual Food Diary

This app is excellent visual to track your food groups and water intake. Very easy to use!

Good Concept, falls short

I love the fact that food entry easy. I crept there isnt a lot on the food list. You can change the amount of food or add food. Food list doesnt do any kitchen justice as to their staples

Simple!!!

My husband and I have been searching for a simple way to balance out calories. We were sick of restricting our diet, counting calories and feeling overwhelmed by options. This is simple, to the point way of keeping your daily calorie intake balanced for optimal health benefits. We are eager to use this app for our weight loss journey.

Just use a free app

This doesnt seem to have beverage options besides water and milk, which seems pretty necessary to me if anyone is trying to track everything they consumed without leaving out big sugar sources. Honestly nothing about this seems better than the free apps with more options, which Im about to go download even after spending 99¢ on this.

Limited

Biggest complaint is the limited choices. What if I have 10 almonds instead of 8? What if I want to target 1500 calories a day and not 1400 or 1600. Would be great if this could link to fit bit, lose it, my fitness pal or any of the like.

On its way

This is a great app, as another reviewer mentioned, the idea behind it is great.. But a few comments: • adjustable "plates" - if Im trying to increase my fruit and veggie intake and decrease my grain and dairy intake, Id love to be able to have that reflected on here so I stay reminded. • add almond and coconut milk :) • though yes, we shouldnt be eating candy and fats, sometimes it happens, and I think being able to see how much of our goal calories it takes up would deter people from eating them. Or at least me anyway. Love it though. Excited to use it

Waste of 99 cents

It could be really great if it let you add foods that arent on the list. For example, I needed to add a protein shake and it wasnt on the list and there was no way to personalize it. On the website you can add recipes and there are more options for foods to choose from, but I downloaded this app because I wanted the convenience of not having to log it on the computer every day. This doesnt really do me much good.

Nice and Simple

I use this app to keep track of what I eat. Its good to see what food groups I favor and which ones I need to try harder to include in my diet. Its simple and easy to use. Choices are limited for which foods you can select, I keep hoping theyll update the app and add more. But its a good way to estimate how youre doing without going calorie crazy

Okay, but...

This apps concept is neat, however, you are forced to select the amounts they have rather than the amount you actually ate. Therefore, not only are your calories off, but your portions are off too. Whats the point?

Great Help, but Needs Some Tweaks

This app is really great. I love the easy way it lets you count calories to help clean up your diet, but I think there are some additions that would be really helpful. 1) An option to enter the stats about something you eat that isnt already an option in the menu. 2) The food menu has a lot of options, which is great, but it has a lot if gaps too. In having this app Im working on my diet, and Im sure a lot of other people are too. However, that doesnt mean I wont have a cookie or milkshake sometime.
